Authorities decide teen who exposed himself in yearbook photo doesn't deserve 70 criminal charges

Latest

The Arizona Republic reports that the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office dropped 70 criminal charges against a Mesa 19-year-old who exposed himself in a school photo.

When he was arrested last weekend, Hunter Osborn, 19, told authorities  he ruined the varsity football team photo on a dare. The slip must have been hard to spot as the photo was included in football programs and the yearbook before anyone noticed enough to try and send him to jail.

Osborn was charged with one felony charge of furnishing harmful items to minors and then 69 misdemeanor charges of indecent exposure.

While local authorities were ready to throw the book at Osborn 70 times over, students quickly came to his support.

Eventually, the county attorney decided against prosecution, and police said they would not re-open the investigation, citing that “all parties involved no longer desire prosecution.”

So Osborn appears to now be safe from the law. The principal’s office is a different story.
