Colin Powell endorses Hillary Clinton after bashing her in leaked emails

Latest

Finally, some more good news for all those undecided, centrist Republican voters looking for an example to follow: former Secretary of State Colin Powell confirmed on Tuesday that he’s voting for Democrat Hillary Clinton.

Powell told a conference of business leaders in Long Island that Republican Donald Trump “insults us every day” and is “selling people a bill of goods.”

While Powell has been outspoken about the state of the race on the Republican side–and endorsed Barack Obama in 2008 and 2012–the question of his endorsement took a dramatic turn when his leaked emails revealed a certain distaste for Clinton.

Although he decried Trump as a “national disgrace” in the hacked messages, Powell also said of Clinton: “I would rather not have to vote for her, although she is a friend I respect.”

Then he took it a step further: “A 70-year person with a long track record, unbridled ambition, greedy, not transformational, with a husband still dicking bimbos at home (according to the NYP).”

Powell, who infamously made the case for invading Iraq to the United Nations based on fatally flawed intelligence, also took issue with Team Clinton’s dragging him into her emails woes, scolding top allies for attempting to equate Powell’s use of email during his State Department tenure with Clinton’s.
