David Bowie almost had a cameo in 'Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2'

According to Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn, David Bowie’s music was an integral part of the superhero-cum-space-opera movie that featured a ’70s rock-heavy soundtrack.

“To my mind, Ziggy Stardust is perhaps the greatest rock and roll album of all time,” Gunn said of Bowie’s fifth studio album. “We featured ‘Moonage Daydream’ in Guardians, but I always thought the album’s character was felt far beyond that, in the aesthetics, in the integral and seemingly-natural linking in popular culture of ’70’s rock and space opera.

Though “Moonage Daydream” will forever be a part of Guardians, Gunn recently revealed that Disney and Marvel were actively pursuing Bowie to make a cameo in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

“Just a very short while ago Kevin Feige and I were talking about a cameo role in Guardians Vol. 2,” and he brought up Bowie’s name,” Gunn explained in a tribute on his Facebook page. “I told him nothing in the world would make me happier, but I heard from common friends he wasn’t doing well. We heard back that he was okay and it could potentially happen.”

Bowie did not make public the news about his declining health right up until the moment of his passing, suggesting that neither Gunn nor Disney were aware that Bowie might not have ever planned on actually being in the film.
