Ivanka Trump Whines About 'Trolls' After Being Called Out for Awful Tweet

Trumpland

It’s been a big weekend for Ivanka Trump! Around the same time as the patron saint of female empowerment scored a suspiciously large bunch of new trademarks in China for her brand, inspiring even more ethical concerns than before, she caught flak for tweeting an image of herself with her two-year-old son Theodore. People were, shall we say, annoyed, in light of the Trump administration’s family-friendly policy of forcibly separating immigrant parents from their children at the U.S.-Mexico border.

As many people pointed out, Trump’s tweet was extremely tone-deaf. Tweeting a picture of her and her child at the height of outrage over her father’s commitment to split up undocumented families is not a good look, and she was predictably criticized for it.

Her first public response after all these people called out her hypocrisy and total lack of self-awareness? To warn about the haters in a series of tweets extolling the value of working hard without any expectations at all, which I’m totally sure she has experienced before:

This is another classic case of Ivanka not understanding what words mean and completely missing the point in a feeble attempt to respond to, or say, anything. “Ignore the trolls” can be solid advice, but I’m not sure she understands what a troll/trolling is. People criticizing you for doing something stupid is not trolling. But taking a very happy picture with your child when your father’s tearing undocumented families apart actually might be.
