John Nash's Princeton recommendation letter was amazingly short and to the point

Latest

John Nash, the famous Princeton mathematician whose life was chronicled in the 2002 film “A Beautiful Mind,” passed away a few weeks ago at the age of 86. This week, Princeton digitized Nash’s records from his time in graduate school, and one nugget in particular stands out as particularly great.

Above, you can read a recommendation letter from Nash’s undergraduate professor Richard Duffin, which helped get Nash into the Princeton graduate program. Duffin’s praise is confined to a single, brief phrase — “He is a mathematical genius.”

It’s the rec letter we all wish we got.
