Maybe Quit Your Evil White House Communications Job If You Hate It so Much

Kellyanne Conway used to say she needed to “take a shower” after lying and doing generally very despicable things to defend and promote Donald Trump during his presidential campaign, according to “Morning Joe” cohosts Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough.

“This is a woman, by the way, who came on our show during the campaign and would shill for Trump in extensive fashion,” Brzezinski said on Monday. “And then she would get off the air, the camera would be turned off, the microphone would be taken off and she would say, ‘Blech, I need to take a shower,’ because she disliked her candidate so much.”

“And also said, it was very interesting, also said that, ‘This is just like my summer in Europe,’” Scarborough added.

It seems that the White House counselor, whose previous clients include the former member of Congress who said on national television that rape doesn’t result in pregnancy because the female body has ways to “shut that whole thing down,” reportedly has or had a moral compass that she suppresses in order to do her very terrible job.

A thought: Even if this is true, who fucking cares! Quit your evil White House communications job if you hate it so much.

Do Spicer and his deputy Sarah Huckabee Sanders have a difficult job? No, they have an indefensible job, which is to go out, on days when not in hiding or on ice for displeasing their vindictive boss, and lie to the press about the alarming dysfunction and various revenge schemes playing out inside the administration, and the consequences of policies, like gutting healthcare or accelerating deportations, that will cause material harm to millions of people.

There is no showering that off. The best you can hope for is to retreat into the more quotidian grotesqueries that come with being a rich person with terrible politics. Or give those up too and maybe take up pottery, a very nice hobby.

The inner turmoil Conway or Spicer may or may not experience in their daily endeavor to prop up Trump means nothing to the people suffering under this reckless and malicious administration. It’s spin meant to humanize people who make obscene amounts of money to feed you bullshit.
