Meghan McCain Lost It on The View (Again) 

Today on Almost Celebrity Death Match: Joy Behar vs Meghan McCain, sometimes referred to as The View, things just about went off the rails when McCain took offense to Behar’s sarcastically wishing Melania Trump a happy birthday. Folks, this story truly has it all.

The panelists were discussing Donald Trump’s spectacular admission on Fox & Friends that Michael Cohen was in fact representing him in the Stormy Daniels case, despite having denied this very thing in the past. Behar noted that today is Melania Trump’s birthday, and pointedly said, “Happy birthday, Melania,” because there’s no birthday gift in the world quite like your husband admitting he paid off a porn star even though everyone already knew it.

That’s when McCain snapped. The Melania apologist who just TWO WEEKS AGO INSISTED THIS STUFF ISN’T A BIG DEAL, SAYING, AND I QUOTE, “Paying off mistresses has been going on since literally the birth of our democracy,” came to Melania’s defense. She chided Behar saying, “Come on, that’s so mean!”

The two then went back and forth, with McCain yelling that Behar was making fun of Melania’s pain. Behar then proceeded to tell McCain that she had no sense of humor, to which McCain responded, “Oh, please. It’s not that I don’t have a sense of humor. It’s because I feel bad for our first lady.”

Then, in an incredible moment I simultaneously wish I had never seen and also could watch over and over again, the other panelists had to sit there and literally, slowly explain to McCain what exactly Behar meant when she wished Melania Trump a happy birthday and how it was really about insulting Donald Trump. McCain still insisted the birthday wish was mean because Melania knows how much her own life blows.

“I wish you would understand who the target of my jokes is,” Behar said to McCain, a moment that alone deserves to go EGOT. I know President Trump did not get his wife, who does not even deserve the uncritical sympathy McCain and others want to dump on her, anything special for her birthday, but honestly this View moment is the best gift anyone could ask for.
