Michael Cohen Reportedly Managed to Kill an US Weekly Story About Don Jr.'s Alleged Affair

Buried in a Sunday night Wall Street Journal story about Donald Trump attorney Michael Cohen’s (alleged) lazy criminality comes an interesting tidbit: Cohen reportedly succeeded in killing an US Weekly story in 2013 about an (alleged) Donald Trump Jr. affair.

The story—which was due to report that the eldest Trump son had an affair with singer Aubrey O’Day—was reportedly so far along that the magazine had called the Trump Organization for comment.

Then, Cohen got involved, according to the Journal:

They received a call back from Mr. Cohen, who threatened legal action and became so irate that they muted the call while he spoke, one of these people said.
“We were all on speakerphone and huddled around the phone,” this person said. “He was just one of these New York characters where he was just like swearing at us and totally over-the-top threatening.”
The magazine’s staff didn’t believe it was a big story that would be worth a legal fight and had a good working relationship with the elder Mr. Trump on stories related to the TV show “The Apprentice,” so they dropped the story.

Truly dogged celebrity journalism! And another damning story for Cohen as his bad news week stretches into a bad news lifetime following a raid by the FBI at his home and office.

Calls for comment to US Weekly and American Media, Inc., the parent company that acquired the tabloid in 2017, were not returned Monday morning.
