As the Senate got down to the business of gutting the American healthcare system and denying tens of millions of citizens access to affordable health insurance, a group of angry protesters interrupted the proceedings with a final desperate plea.

Chanting “kill the bill—don’t kill us” and finally just “shame,” they interrupted Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell as he was preparing to offer the floor to John McCain, who’d abandoned his convalescence in Arizona to join his colleagues in Washington to vote for the GOP’s healthcare bill.
