These pictures of Donald Trump meeting President Obama in the Oval Office are unreal

Latest

In keeping with a long tradition of meeting with the president-elect after Election Day, President Obama and Donald Trump met in the Oval Office today. See, everything is going just fine!!!

Trump called the meeting, which ran about 90 minutes, “an honor.” Obama said he was “encouraged” by the “excellent” and wide-ranging dialogue.

That’s all well and good. But it also produced some insanely awkward photos of two people who clearly despise each other attempting to maintain an image of civility and stability.

Just look at that handshake between two men whose hands are clearly both normal man-sized.

After making brief statements to the press after the meeting, where they took no questions from the press, Obama advised Trump about the reporters, “Here’s a good rule: Don’t answer any questions when they just start yelling.” Hilarious!

But Trump is already setting troubling new standards when it comes to dealing with the press. After blacklisting news outlets and reporters without explanation during the campaign, White House reporters weren’t allowed to travel with Trump in a so-called “protective pool” to cover his arrival at the West House.

Here’s one more shot for the road of Trump looking particularly smug and toady next to Obama, who’s doing his oh-god-please-no eyes.

So, yeah. This is definitely happening. Time to get back to work.
