On Monday, President Trump met with President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt, a military general-turned-dictator. They did not talk about human rights in Egypt, but they did shake hands because he is not German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Last month, Trump also shook hands with Løkke Rasmussen, the prime minister of Denmark, who is not a dictator and is also not German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
