Trump threatens to sue women accusing him of sexual assault

Latest

During a meandering, uncomfortable speech in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania (really) on Saturday, Donald Trump explicitly threatened to sue the now-ten women who have come forward and accused him of sexual assault or misconduct in recent weeks.

“Every woman lied when they came forward to hurt my campaign,” Trump said to applause. “Total fabrication. The events never happened. Never. All of these liars will be sued after the election is over.”

Trump’s comments, caught on a hot mic while talking with now-disgraced TV host Billy Bush, that his celebrity allowed him to sexually assault women—”Grab them by the pussy,” as he put it—prompted several women to come forward to share stories of him touching them inappropriately and kissing them without consent.

It’s unlikely that the threatened lawsuits will ever be filed. As part of a larger investigation into the thousands of lawsuits Trump has been named in, USA Today found that he has filed just a handful of lawsuits he’s threatened against people who have said what he interprets bad things about him. He has “won” just one of those suits, though the end result of that case is disputed.
