We Need Rihanna Back on Instagram. Here's What Happened to Her Account

Latest

For those of us who wake up each morning and immediately check Rihanna’s Instagram account for updates, this image was devastating:

How could such a thing happen? What about her 12 million loyal followers? A new statement from Alison Schumer, who works for Instagram’s policy and communications team, finally provides some answers.

“Yesterday, we briefly disabled the account by mistake and restored it quickly,” Schumer told the Daily News on Tuesday. “I can confirm that we have not deleted the account subsequently.”

So Rihanna’s account was mistakenly deleted.

Rumors abounded that Instagram had suspended Rih’s accound after she posted some provocative photos (check them out here, NSFW alert) from a shoot with French magazine Lui. She was reportedly asked to remove the images, which allegedly did not comply with Instagram’s nudity policy.

In true form, badgalriri responded by posting this image:

The account is now activated but there are no photos, so we’re back at square one. Luckily, she’s still posting NSFW pics on her Twitter account. We’ll be closely monitoring Rihanna’s Instagram account in hopes of an update. Until then, enjoy this photo of Carmelo Anthony staring at Rih during the Met Gala.
