A Fox News Host Was Racist Enough to Actually Get Fired

In a shocking development, a Fox News host did something racist that actually got him fired from his job.

Bob Beckel, the supposedly liberal co-host of panel show The Five, was fired by the network on Friday for an instance of alleged racism toward a black co-worker.

In a brief statement on Friday, a Fox News Channel spokesperson said simply that, “Bob Beckel was terminated today for making an insensitive remark to an African-American employee.”

Beckel has a long history of racism, but it was usually directed where Fox News likes it to be and has profited for many years off of—that is to say, outward at the world, instead of at his co-workers.

But don’t worry, everyone—Fox News is still into racism. For instance, Beckel’s now-former co-host on The Five, fellow racist Jesse Watters, is still very much employed by the network.

His firing comes just months after he rejoined the network following an acrimonious departure in 2015. At the time, then-network VP of programming Bill Shine said:

We tried to work with Bob for months, but we couldn’t hold ‘The Five’ hostage to one man’s personal issues. He took tremendous advantage of our generosity, empathy and goodwill and we simply came to the end of the road with him.

Beckel had reportedly been recovering from back surgery at the time.

Beckel has yet to respond to the news of his firing on Twitter, where his bio still touts his return to Fox, and insists “there’s no such thing as a bad day.”

Bye, Bob!
