Aging Bigot Still Clinging to Birther Beliefs

Latest

President Trump, a bitter, elderly racist, still thinks that President Obama was born outside America. Because of course he does, why would he not still cling to the beliefs that propelled him to occupying America’s highest office?

The New York Times reported on Tuesday that Trump was still privately pushing a conspiracy about Obama’s place of birth:

In recent months, they say, Mr. Trump has used closed-door conversations to question the authenticity of President Barack Obama’s birth certificate.

One unnamed Senator, presumably a Republican, apparently thought Trump’s musings were just hilarious:

One senator who listened as the president revived his doubts about Mr. Obama’s birth certificate chuckled on Tuesday as he recalled the conversation. The president, he said, has had a hard time letting go of his claim that Mr. Obama was not born in the United States. The senator asked not to be named to discuss private conversations.

While Trump claimed to have let the whole “Obama wasn’t born in America” thing go during the campaign, his recent pardon of disgraced Sheriff Joe Arpaio, King of the Birthers, proved he very much still subscribed to the conspiracy (not that proof was at all necessary).

That Trump continues to doubt Obama’s birthplace is entirely unsurprising. It is, however, somewhat baffling that anyone would believe Trump when he announced “President Barack Obama was born in America, period” and then proceeded to blame the birther movement’s inception on his political rival, Hillary Clinton.
