A scary and horrific scene played out in Turkey on Saturday when Fenerbahçe was on its way to the Trabzon airport. An armed attack was launched on the team's bus, leaving bullet holes in the vehicle and the driver shot.

The bus driver was taken to the hospital, where he was said to be in serious condition. Thankfully, no other injuries were reported.

Fenerbahçe had just played a match in Rizepor and was making the one-hour drive to Trabzon, where it team was to board a flight home to Istanbul. But halfway through the trip, the team's bus was attacked.

Police and medical personnel rushed to the highway, where they attended to the bus driver before he was taken to the hospital. The crime scene was also tended to while traffic was stopped on the highway, with authorities eventually escorting the team to the airport.

It's still unclear who carried out the attack or what their motives were. There were claims that the attack was carried out by rival fans, however nobody has confirmed that or provided proof.

Hopefully the police can find those involved and, in addition to punishing them, sort out how and why this happened. Ideally, they'd be able to prevent this from happening in the future.
