Couple Has Anniversary Dinner on Wing of Airplane
LatestLooking for an offbeat yet romantic venue for your next anniversary dinner? Here’s an idea: a candlelit, catered meal on the wing of an airplane.
Mark Malkoff, a comedian and writer, lived on an airplane for a month and took 135 flights, setting the Guinness World Record for most flights in a 30-day period back in 2009. One of the biggest challenges, Malkoff said, was figuring out how to celebrate his wedding anniversary during the month-long plane stint.
Malkoff’s solution? Set up shop on the wing of his airplane home. Here’s footage that he rediscovered while sifting through his archives:
Unfortunately for Malkoff, and his wife Christine, living on a plane meant no showers. For a whole month. He resorted to baby wipes and other inventive solutions.
“The baby wipes actually worked well. Christine said I smelled fine. But maybe she was just being polite,” Malkoff told Fusion. “The hardest was having to wash my hair every morning in small airplane bathroom over toilet.”
As for how he’ll top this anniversary dinner? Malkoff has an idea.
“I was thinking of asking Richard Branson if he’d let me have my anniversary dinner next year in space,” Malkoff said. “Maybe he’ll go for it.”
Some of Malkoff’s other achievements include living in an IKEA store for a month and consuming purchases at all 171 Starbucks locations in Manhattan in less than 24 hours.
