'Double Dare' host Marc Summers reveals battle with cancer

Latest

In an interview with Philadelphia radio station WMMR this week, Marc Summers disclosed that for five years he has been secretly battling leukemia. The host of every ’90s kid’s favorite game shows went on to explain why he hadn’t spoken publicly about it.

“You know, in show business, if you talk about that stuff, it’s hard to get hired afterward… And I’ve sort of compressed this thing and it’s made me nuts.”

The Food Network host was diagnosed with chronic lymphocytic leukemia after he went to the hospital complaining of severe stomach pain. After two years of chemotherapy and annual PET scans, Summers got the “all-clear” from doctors this past December.

“I’m not covering it up anymore,” he explained. “I had it, I’m in remission… and I’m ready to move on.”

Best wishes, Marc!
