Emma Watson's talk about gender equality will stream live on Facebook
LatestActress/feminist firebrand Emma Watson has just announced she will be furthering her HeForShe gender equality advocacy this Sunday at a London-based talk — and she is extending an invite to all her fellow feminists to attend.
Sunday, March 8 is international women’s day. In an earnest video message posted to her Facebook page, the Harry Potter heroine — also a UN Women’s Goodwill Ambassador — can be seen nervously giggling as she encourages those who would like to attend the live talk to submit their own personal narratives on how gender inequality has directly effected their lives to her HeForShe forum. Have a burning question to posit Watson on gender equality? Those are encouraged too.
This is another effort in Watson’s movement that, according to HeForShe’s official website, hopes to “bring together one half of humanity in support of the other half of humanity, for the benefit of all”. Watson first launched the initiative last month in Davos, Switzerland at the World Economic Forum; her landmark UN speech last fall catapulted her cause to the world stage.
If you can’t make it across the pond in time for Watson’s event, no worries: Facebook will be live streaming the conversation. Stay tuned to the Watson’s Facebook page for more details.
