Engineer builds working version of Thor's hammer Mjölnir

The thing about Thor's enchanted hammer Mjölnir is that unless it decides that you're worthy, you can't lift it up. In Avengers: Age of Ultron this mystical fact is played up for gags, but YouTuber Allen Pan decided to forego magic and make his own Mjölnir with science on his side.

While Thor's hammer possesses some level of sentience, Pan's cleverly uses a series of electromagnets that affix the hammer to metal surfaces unless they're disabled via a fingerprint sensor. Naturally, Pan's set the sensor to register his thumb only, making him the sole person worthy to pick up the homemade weapon.

Remember, folks, science is magic, and magic is just science that we don't understand.
