A group of conservative students in Texas are taking heat over their plans to stage a “Catch an Illegal Immigrant Game” at the University of Texas.
Members of the Young Conservatives of Texas (YCT) will walk around campus with signs that say “illegal immigrant.” Students who capture them will receive $25 gift certificates, the AP reported.
The game has drawn condemnation from Democrats and university officials.
“The purpose of this event is to spark a campus-wide discussion about the issue of illegal immigration, and how it affects our everyday lives," said YCT spokesman, Lorenzo Garcia.
