Here's what Miley Cyrus has to say about Woody Allen's sex abuse allegations

Woody Allen is a four-time Oscar-winning filmmaker with dozens of acclaimed movies to his name. He is also the accused rapist of his adopted daughter Dylan Farrow, who was seven years old at the time of her alleged abuse at his hands.

But even after her story first made headlines in the ’90s—and even after it resurfaced in the public consciousness in 2014, when an open letter from Farrow was published on Nicholas Kristof’s New York Times blog–Allen has continued to flourish in Hollywood. For their part, the vast majority of the actors who have worked with him have either expressed their neutrality toward the accusations or declined to comment at all.

Miley Cyrus stars in Woody Allen’s most recent project, the Amazon series Crisis in Six Scenes. In an interview with Variety, the Voice coach explained why she’s been reluctant to “judge” the director:

I live a similar life to Woody—I live a public life. Until I know someone and I know their story, I never really judge anyone. That’s kind of how I went into it. From the way I saw him with his family, I never saw him be anything but an incredible person and a really great dad. People might slam me for saying that. I’m sure it was a hard time for that family. My family has been through hard things, and I think everyone’s suffering is different.
