How 'Making a Murderer' found its way onto Sunday Night Football

Latest

The intersection of the Venn diagram of football fans and true-crime documentary fans has at least one member. Redditor rmcoop27 spotted this shoutout to Making a Murderer during Sunday’s Minnesota Vikings-Green Bay Packers game at Lambeau Field.

The sign mocks the incompetence of NFL referees by comparing them to the Manitowoc County sheriff’s department, which many Making a Murderer viewers believe framed Steven Avery for the murder of Teresa Halbach. Here’s a closer look at it, also via Reddit:

Not only is Green Bay, Wisconsin just a half-hour drive from Manitowoc County, but—purely coincidentally—someone who was featured in the Netflix series now works for the Packers. Mike Halbach, the brother of the victim, is employed as the team’s director of football technology.
