James Deen accused of rape by ex Stoya

Latest

Porn actor James Deen was accused of rape by his ex-girlfriend and fellow adult film star Stoya on Saturday, causing at least one website to immediately sever ties with Deen.

Stoya made her claim in a pair of tweets on Saturday afternoon.

That thing where you log in to the internet for a second and see people idolizing the guy who raped you as a feminist. That thing sucks.

James Deen held me down and fucked me while I said no, stop, used my safeword. I just can’t nod and smile when people bring him up anymore.

Deen denied the allegations in his own series of tweets on Sunday.

Deen has attained a notably large amount of mainstream success, so Stoya’s tweets gained widespread attention. Following her claims, Amelia McDonell-Parry, editor of women’s site The Frisky, announced that she was cutting ties with Deen, who had contributed to a sex advice column on the site.

In a longer blog post on Sunday, McDonell-Parry explained why she could no longer work with Deen:

I very much liked James Deen. I enjoyed working with him on WWJDD. I asked him to do an advice column because I liked his directness and his confidence, but most of all, I liked his emphasis on communication, honesty and, most of all, CONSENT. That he has been accused of violating Stoya’s consent, that women I respect have since contacted me directly to say that they know of others to whom he has done the same thing? Well, I’m fucking heartsick over it. This makes it impossible for me to work with him any further, to give him a forum for giving advice that he is accused of not following himself. No amount of good rapport between us or traffic to his columns would EVER supersede the fact that I BELIEVE WOMEN.
