It's July 20 here in the U.S. In Japan, however it’s already Tuesday, the 21st. Tenga, a Japanese sex toy company, wants to turn the 21st into National Handjob Day, and it’s created a superhero to commemorate the occasion.
Tengaman, styled after Japan’s iconic series of Sentai crime fighters, is a mild-mannered pleasure enthusiast who transforms into his alter-ego by masturbating using one of Tenga’s signature vacuum cup toys. All you really need to know about him is that he fights villains by giving them handjobs.
Tenga’s toyed with the idea of Tengaman in the past, but today the company released a full-length short film about the hero fighting in the name of self-induced orgasms.
Campy sex jokes aside, there’s actually a clever bit of logic running through Tenga’s campaign. National Handjob Day, unfortunately, isn’t really a holiday in Japan, but the Japanese word for “masturbation,” “onanii” (オナニー) is a pseudo-homophone for the way that you would pronounce the numbers 07.21.
It may not be National Handjob Day here in the States just yet, but Tengaman probably wouldn't mind if you got a head start.
