On the occasion of his wife Kim Kardashian-West's birthday yesterday, Kanye West arranged for a private showing of Steve Jobs (Kim's review: "sooooo good").
The showing was part of a surprise party for Kim. She is pregnant, and the non-Jobs theme of the party was pregnancy, as evidenced by the birthday cake and the fact that West instructed Kim's family and friends to come in their "best pregnant Kim look" and "fake baby bumps" were "provided on arrival."
I, personally, would not love this as a surprise birthday party theme, but the lady of the hour said on Instagram that she "loved it & had the best time ever," and was "feeling so very comfortable eating churros with a bunch of pregnant women!" (which, OK, sounds amazing).
It's weird that West showed the movie, which is in large part about Jobs being a terrible father, during a pregnancy party. But, after all, Steve Jobs portrays Jobs as a great, complicated genius, and what is Kanye West if not a great, complicated genius? Makes perfect sense.
