Kellyanne Conway Tries to Defend Trump From Comey but Only Makes Things Worse

Latest

On Sunday night, former FBI Director James Comey sat down for an interview with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos. Despite largely being made up of moral and patriotic posturing, it has ignited the kind of firestorm that not even a military strike on Syria could distract from.

Luckily for Donald Trump, Kellyanne Conway is here to defend him! Unluckily for Donald Trump, she is doing a very bad job.

This morning, Conway appeared on Good Morning America in an attempt to contain the aftermath of last night’s interview, and met the Comey spectacle with her signature spin, saying: “The president is very confounded that this person is always able to divert the spotlight to him. He was a very deft way of making things about him.”

This is pretty classic Conway, criticizing people for doing something Donald Trump has built a career and presidency off of. As annoying as the press tour for A Higher Loyalty is, it is extremely impressive that the attention around it has befuddled Trump, who apparently truly cannot imagine a situation in which someone else would dominate headlines.

Conway also criticized Comey’s claims and, of course, Comey himself.

“This is somebody who’s giving a revisionist version of history,” said the woman who coined the term “alternative facts.”

“This man, Jim Comey, loves to be within the proximity of power,” said the woman serving the man idolizes strongmen dictators.

“He loved being alone in the Oval Office,” said Kellyanne fucking Conway, counselor to Donald Trump.

Then she really messed up.

To further undermine Comey, she also mentioned his comments revealing that he announced the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails under the assumption that she would win the 2016 election.

“This guy swung an election,” she said. “He thought the wrong person would win.”

Now Conway is scrambling to take that quote back in the most Con-wayish manner possible.

If you take a look at the interview, the sarcasm is actually extremely hard to pick up. Probably because Conway was most likely not being sarcastic.

I guess the takeaway here from this is that Trump is really is the self-centered attention-seeking baby we all know him to be. Also, Kellyanne Conway is still a hypocrite who is constantly, almost hilariously, beset by her own words.
