Lawyers Say Representing Trump Is Such an Honor That They Can't Possibly Do It

Latest

This weekend, Donald Trump tweeted, “Fame & fortune will NEVER be turned down by a lawyer, though some are conflicted,” which is weirdly exactly what I whisper to myself in the mirror every time I prepare myself to go on a date with a lawyer.

Yet Trump has had unbelievable amounts of trouble finding a lawyer to represent him, and on Monday night, two more lawyers turned fame and fortune down. Trump had reached out to high-profile attorneys Tom Buchanan and Dan Webb, of law firm Winston & Strawn, to represent him. But Buchanan and Webb issued a statement Monday saying that they were unable to take him on because of “business conflicts.” CNN reports that Winston & Strawn is at least the fifth major law firm that has recently rejected the president.

The statement added, “However they consider the opportunity to represent the President to be the highest honor and they sincerely regret that they cannot do so.” Apparently it was such a high honor that they just had to say no.
