Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg will (probably) smoke up together on the TV show of our dreams

Latest

Every single night, before I lay my head to sleep, I pray for two things: for Michelle Obama to announce her presidential bid via mixtape and for Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg to cohost a dinner party/cooking show on VH1. Well, ladies and gentleman, it looks like one of my prayers has been answered.

VH1 has just announced the unscripted show Martha & Snoop’s Dinner Party, in which the real First Couple of America whip up some food and drink, invite some fancy celebrity friends over, and throw a dinner party. And I am genuinely excited for this for both the hostessing tips and obviously the chemistry. Stewart and Snoop have appeared together before, baking “green” brownies on her show and roasting Justin Bieber. The savvy entrepreneurs know how to give the people what they want.

VH1 has sold Dinner Party as a “half-baked evening of cocktails, cooking, conversation and fun where nothing is off limits.” So it seems like the big bait here is whether or not we will see Martha Stewart actually consume marijuana because you know what “half-baked” means. But either way, this show has the potential to be dope as all hell, because apparently there’s a competition aspect as well.

“At our dinner party, we will exemplify America’s fascination with food, entertaining and celebrity,” Stewart stated, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “Martha & Snoop’s Dinner Party will redesign the traditional food competition shows in a new, different and very funny way.”

I’m probably reading too much into this, but if this means we’re getting Lip Sync Battle (not an endorsement of that show) but for cooking, my body is ready. One can only hope the show taps into VH1’s personal roster of celebrities because all I have ever wanted in my life was to see New York go toe-to-toe with Jeff Chef Goldblum over a nice duck confit.

Now I’m not saying this show could save the world. But in this time of political turmoil, we can take solace in the idea that Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart have totally smoked up together before, which means that they’ve totally bonded on ~like, the nature of our existence~ and are fully equipped to deliver unto us some solid televised programming and be the change we wish to see.
