Melania Trump Couldn't Leave Her German Hotel Because of Massive Protests Against Her Husband

Latest

First Lady Melania Trump wanted to leave her hotel in Germany on Friday. She was supposed to go on a scheduled tour of a climate change lab with German chancellor Angela Merkel’s husband Joachim Sauer Friday. Too bad for Melania, though, because massive protests against her husband, capitalism and the rest of the leaders at the G20 Summit forced her to stay indoors.

Sauer had scheduled the tour–which included the German Climate Computing Center–for the First Lady and the other leaders’ spouses.

But because of the protests–which were dubbed “Welcome to Hell,” started with 100,000 people when the Trumps arrived in Germany, and continued through Friday–Hamburg police did not clear Trump to leave her hotel, her spokesperson told NBC.

The change in schedule did not stop the First Lady from tweeting about the protests.

The Daily Mail reports that the climate change tour, for now, has been canceled.

Note: this post has been updated to clarify the full agenda of the G20 protests.
