Middle School Teacher Who Ran a White Supremacist Podcast Finally Resigns

Latest

Back in March, HuffPost dug up a white supremacist podcast hosted by Dayanna Volitich, a 25-year old social studies teacher at Florida’s Crystal River Middle School, called “Unapologetic.” After the story broke, the school removed Volitich from the classroom, while they investigated her behavior. On Tuesday, Volitich finally handed in her resignation, which now has to be approved by the school board.

In the podcast, Volitich, under the pseudonym “Tiana Dalichov,” would talk about how “science” proved that certain races were smarter than others, and spoke openly about being a public school teacher who was bringing white nationalist ideology into the classroom. Under the same pseudonym, Volitich tweeted about eradicating Muslims “from the face of the Earth” and how the “JQ is incredibly complex” (JQ is anti-semitic shorthand for the Jewish Question).

Volitich claimed that her podcast was “political satire and exaggeration,” which is the same excuse made by the far right and hipster racists for years. In a statement, Volitich wrote that “None of the statements released about my being a white nationalist or white supremacist have any truth to them, nor are my political beliefs injected into my teaching of social studies curriculum.”

To which I say: Please let the door hit you on the way out!
