Nikki Haley weirdly smiled and grinned all throughout signing South Carolina's bill to bring down the Confederate flag

Nikki Haley, Governor of South Carolina, finally signed a bill into law yesterday that would bring down the Confederate Flag flying in front of the state’s capitol. The move came after weeks of public demand for the flag’s removal following the tragic murder of nine black churchgoers at the hands of Dylan Roof, a white supremacist who considered the flag to be a symbol for his cause.

Though the much-needed move was lauded by many members of the public, Haley’s demeanor at the signing seemed distinctly off. Specifically, She inappropriately smiled and grinned throughout the entire thing, in stark contrast to the solemn faces surrounding her. Just look:

“So you know, it’s hard for us to look at what’s happening today and not think back to 22 days ago.” — Gov. Nikki Haley
“It seems like so long ago because the grieving has been so hard.” — Gov. Nikki Haley
“But at the same time, we have all been struck by what was a tragedy that we didn’t think we would ever encounter.” — Gov. Nikki Haley
“We were all experiencing the same pain.” — Gov. Nikki Haley
“And so with that, we don’t want to wait any longer; we are going to sign the bill.” — Gov. Nikki Haley
