Puerto Rico is Still Fighting to Regain Electricity 122 Days After Hurricane Maria

After 122 days with no electricity, one very happy and very desperate neighborhood in San Juan just got its power back.

But many Puerto Ricans have not been so fortunate. Four months after Hurricane Maria decimated the island, close to 40% of Puerto Rico is still suffering in the dark. And today, the island’s governor announced that he is privatizing the state power company—an ominous move straight out of The Shock Doctrine.
