Satoru Iwata, the president of Nintendo, has died

Satoru Iwata, the man responsible for Super Smash Bros. and much of Nintendo's recent success on the home platform, has died.

"Nintendo Co., Ltd. deeply regrets to announce that President Satoru Iwata passed away on July 11, 2015 due to a bile duct growth," a Nintendo public statement read.
