Scottish dude is reprimanded by judge for wearing his fresh blue shorts to court

Latest

It was just about a picture-perfect day in Galashiels, Scotland—72 degrees, and not a cloud in the sky. Mr. Darren Dixon, a Galashiels resident, strolled up to his appointment at Selkirk Sheriff Court for breaking his girlfriend’s iPad on a George Forman grill in a pair of his finest long blue shorts (what material these shorts were remains a mystery). And then—chaos. Via BBC:

Sheriff Peter Paterson said; “If you turn up to court in shorts again you will be held in contempt of court.
“It is completely unacceptable.”
Dixon, of Galashiels, apologised for wearing the long blue shorts.
He was fined £125 for the criminal offence and ordered to pay his ex-girlfriend £100 in compensation.

It is unclear if the fine was for the broken iPad or the shorts. We’ll update as further information emerges.
