Serena Williams had the perfect response to a reporter’s sexist question
LatestQueen and fierce tennis player Serena Williams proved yet again why everyone should bow down and recognize her as the greatest. Here’s an exchange between Williams and a reporter from a Wimbledon press conference earlier today:
Question: There will be talk about you going down as one of the greatest female athletes of all time. What do you think when you hear someone talk like that?
Williams: “I prefer the word ‘one of the greatest athletes of all time.'”
I mean, she did just win her 300th Grand Slam match and is poised to win her 22nd Grand Slam singles title. As a black woman, Williams must face a constant onslaught of bullshit, like criticism that her body is too muscular or claims that she should have to get down on her knees and thank God that Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal were born.
It’s clear why Beyoncé picked Serena Williams to show us her best dance moves in the music video for “Sorry.” Williams got to say she’ll never ever apologize for her body, her womanhood, or her incomparable talent to every underestimating white man in the world, all while slaying in a black bodysuit. Boy, bye.
