Teen With Down Syndrome Gets Acceptance Letter to College

Getting into college and opening that acceptance letter in the mail is a rite of passage for American teenagers. It’s exciting and nerve wracking to learn where you’ll be spending the next four years of your life (or, in my case, five).

On Saturday, Noah Van Vooren, a high school student from Little Chute, Wisc. who has Down Syndrome, was able to go through that experience. And luckily for us, someone captured the teen on video with a smartphone, albeit vertically (when will people learn?!), opening his acceptance letter to Edgewood College in Madison.

This isn’t Noah’s first foray into Internet quasi-fame. Earlier this school year, he was the subject of a local news report that went somewhat viral about him scoring a touchdown for his football team after serving as the team manager.
