A cruise passenger is missing after falling overboard in the Gulf of Mexico, Carnival officials told KHOU in Houston.
Samantha Broberg, 33, was reported missing Friday morning from the Carnival Liberty. Video footage shows Broberg falling overboard around 2 a.m., the cruise line said Saturday. The Coast Guard told CNN that they are actively searching the area Broberg disappeared, about 195 miles off the coast of Galveston.
In a statement to Fusion, Carnival said confirmed that Broberg "may have gone overboard."
The four-day cruise departed from Galveston for Mexico on Thursday.
Passengers aboard the ship told NBC Dallas-Fort Worth that the ship was check thoroughly for Broberg. “We knew it wasn’t going to end well when the last few updates the announcer said would you please just keep this family in your thoughts and prayers,” Jo Trizila told NBC.
Broberg is a mother of four who lives in Arlington, Texas, KHOU reported.
