The adorable thing this Wisconsin Badgers basketball player said when he didn't realize his mic was on

March Madness is in full swing, and last night, the final teams advanced to the “Elite 8.” The University of Wisconsin Badgers were among the teams to advance, and this adorable press conference the day before may have been their good luck charm.

On Wednesday, Nigel Hayes joined Sam Dekker and Frank Kaminsky for a news conference ahead of their Sweet Sixteen game against the North Carolina Tar Heels.

The moderator asked Hayes if there was anything he wanted to say to the stenographers before the news conference began.

“Syzygy,” he said.

For those who don’t know, Hayes has been teasing and testing the hired transcribers with big words throughout the tournament like, “Antidisestabilishmentarianism, cattywampus, and onomatopoeia.”

Turns out Hayes had a lot more to say and didn’t realize his microphone was as sensitive as it was.

“Gosh she’s beautiful,” he said as he turned to Kaminsky, referring to one of the stenographers in the room.

As the room began to laugh, Hayes asked “Did you hear that?”

He then covered his face with his hands in embarrassment.

The entire moment was captured on tape and Jimmy Fallon monologued about it last night, joking that the stenographer replied, “Let the record show that I am free this Friday night.”

Objectively it could have been a lot more embarrassing. At least he didn’t say something offensive.
