The White House Wants ESPN's Jemele Hill Fired for Correctly Labeling Trump a White Supremacist

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders on Wednesday insisted that ESPN host Jemele Hill should be fired after Hill declared President Donald Trump to be “ignorant,” “offensive,” and a “white supremacist” on Twitter earlier this week.

Asked by The Washington Post’s David Nakamura whether the president was aware of the statements, Huckabee Sanders said that while she was unsure if Trump had read Hill’s criticism, the tweets themselves were “one of the more outrageous comments that anyone could make” and constituted “a fireable offense by ESPN.”

Why, exactly, Hill’s comments specifically warranted a response from the White House when countless others have made similar—if not worse—claims, is unclear.

ESPN, for their part, have not fired Hill, although they did release a craven statement calling the comments “inappropriate.”

Meanwhile, Donald Trump, whose administration has shamelessly stoked racial tensions to fuel its political agenda of white supremacy—is still gainfully employed.
