These Afrocentric prom dresses are dope as all hell

Latest

A year after prom queen Kyemah McEntyre blew us all away with her gorgeous dashiki-style prom dress (that she designed herself!), another high schooler went viral over the weekend for her own African-inspired gown.

This young lady—whose dress was created by Cleveland-based designer DeAndre’ Crenshaw—isn’t the only teen who’s rocked Afrocentric couture to the big dance this year. Clearly, McEntyre has made her mark—this year, black high school girls across the country have been rocking African-print prom dresses. This might just be the best prom trend ever.

We rounded up some of the most gorgeous Afrocentric prom looks on social media. Get your fill of dashiki prints, Ankara fabric, and Kente cloth—and of course, black girl magic.
