This comedian perfectly captures the misogynist double standards around sexual assault

Latest

As we learned from the recent Stanford rape trial, the shameful practice of blaming victims for their sexual assault is still alive and well in the world.

Alice Brine is a comedian and podcaster from Wellington, New Zealand, who perfectly captured out the absurdity of sexual assault victim-blaming in a widely-shared Facebook post that shows what it might look like if applied to other crimes

Brine’s post has since been shared more than 80,000 times on Facebook and been translated into other languages.

Unfortunately, the post’s popularity has also drawn the attention of plenty of haters, many of whom seem more upset with the color of Brine’s hair than anything she wrote.
