There are many things that we won't know about J.J. Abrams's upcoming Star Wards: The Force Awakens until it hits theaters this December. But there are also a few things that we do know. We know that Kylo Ren isn't a Sith. We know that John Boyega's character will wield a lightsaber. And now, we know that every single IMAX screen in the U.S. will, without a doubt, be showing the seventh installment in the Star Wars franchise for an entire month.
In a move similar to the one agreed upon for the Hobbit trilogy, IMAX screens will exclusively show The Force Awakens during the first month that the film is in theaters. The film won't be as exclusively luxurious abroad, but it will still dominate the bulk of overseas IMAX screens.C
"Star Wars: Episode VII is the ultimate crossover movie—it crosses over to everyone," IMAX Entertainment head Greg Foster said in a public statement.
Star Wars The Force Awakens opens December 18th.
