Mulaka is a tribute to the indigenous Mexican people of Tarahumara, who are known for their near-mythical ability to run for hundreds of miles in sandals. The game features native music, indigenous language, and mythical creatures described in Tarahumara lore, and the game’s developers made sure anthropologists and cultural leaders vetted everything that went into it. A portion of the profits will go to NGOs supporting the native community, which suffers from poverty, drug violence, and real estate interest in their ancestral land.
