This judge shook off a lawsuit against Taylor Swift flawlessly

After reviewing Jessie Braham’s outlandish lawsuit against Taylor Swift, California judge Gail Standish took extra care to write her dismissal of the case in words that would be impossible for either musician to misunderstand.

Braham claimed that he was the originator of the phrase “haters gonna hate,” featured in Swift’s monster hit “Shake it Off.” Judge Standish, who may or may not be a Swiftie, strongly disagreed and decided to paraphrase Swift’s entire catalogue to explain why.

“At present, the Court is not saying that Braham can never, ever, ever get his case back in court,” Standish wrote. “But, for now, we have got problems, and the Court is not sure Braham can solve them.”

The judge continued:

“As currently drafted, the Complaint has a blank space—one that requires Braham to do more than write his name. And, upon consideration of the Court’s explanation in Part II. Braham may discover that mere pleading Band-Aids will not fix the bullet holes in his case. At least for the moment, Defendants have shaken off this lawsuit.”

We can only hope that the judge who hears Braham’s case against CNN’s show New Day has a sense of humor too.
