Trump Might Livetweet The James Comey Hearing

Latest

A really dumb thing for Donald Trump to do during Thursday’s scheduled testimony from former FBI director James Comey would be to open his big mouth and let his terrible ideas spill out without vetting or a filter or, especially, a lawyer.

So, of course, that’s exactly what the president plans to do.

According to Washington Post reporter Robert Costa, the White House will not have a dedicated “war room” of staffers tasked with rebutting Comey’s testimony about Trump’s bungled attempts to obstruct the FBI’s ongoing Russia investigation. Instead, Costa explained on MSNBC, the president himself will livetweet the hearing in an attempt to be “his own warrior.”

Great.

“Some outside people—some surrogates will be available,” Costa said. “But the president is expected to be tweeting on Thursday in response to Comey. Not to stay quiet during the testimony. Because, he himself wants to be the one driving the process.”

Driving it where remains to be seen, as over 60% of Americans believe Trump “does more to hurt his own cause when he speaks on behalf of the administration,” according to a recent poll.

Buckle up, folks!
