Watch Nevada GOP chairman poop his pants over early Latinx voter turnout

Latest

The chairman of Nevada’s Republican Party is upset because a lot of people of “a certain group” voted early in a state that could play an important swing role tomorrow.

“If we don’t get our people out to vote, they’re going to win,” said Michael McDonald, chairman of the Nevada GOP at a Trump rally in Reno on Saturday.

“In Clark County, they kept a poll open till 10 o’clock at night so a certain group could vote,” McDonald fumed.

The “certain group” that McDonald was presumably referring to is Latinx voters, who spent yesterday queued to vote early at Cardenas Market, a Mexican-owned grocery store that doubled as an early voting station.

McDonald did not respond to Fusion’s request for comment.

Democrats in Nevada have cast around 46,000 more ballots than Republicans, so the idea of long lines of Latinx voters has GOP officials seeing blue.

“The polls are supposed to close at 7. This was kept open till 10,” McDonald complained to the mostly white Trump crowd. He added, “Yeah, you feel free right now? Think this is a free and easy election?”

Trump spoke next, giving echo to the idea that too many members of a “certain group” were voting. “It’s being reported that certain key Democratic polling locations in Clark County were kept open for hours and hours beyond closing time to bus and bring democratic voters in,” Trump said.

The polling location was actually scheduled to close at 8 PM but stayed open until 10 PM to accommodate voters who were already standing in line at closing time, which is perfectly legal according to Nevada state law. There were particularly long lines since it was the last day of early voting.

According to CNN, final vote in the county was actually cast after that, at 10:10 PM in Silverado Ranch. But the GOP chairman didn’t mention that poll—maybe because 58% of the residents in Silverado Ranch are white.
