Watch: Six-year-old immigration activist Sophie Cruz shines bright at the Women's March

Latest

Immigration activist Sophie Cruz brought a message of love and hope when she spoke at the Women’s March on Washington. “We are here together making a chain of love, to protect our families,” she told the crowd of hundreds of thousands. ”Let us fight with love, faith, and courage so that our families will not be destroyed.”

Sophie has quickly become a beloved and outspoken activist in the immigration movement. She first made headlines in 2015 when she got through the tight security for the pope during his visit to Washington D.C. and gave him a letter asking him to protect her parents from deportation. Her powerful voice becomes perhaps even more vital with the new administration, as President Donald Trump has threatened to deport two to three million people “immediately.”

“I also want to tell the children not to be afraid, because we are not alone,” she said at the march. “There are still many people that have their hearts filled with love. Let’s keep together and fight for the rights. God is with us.”

Sophie gave her powerful speech in both English and Spanish, ending with a chant of “Sí, se puede.” You can watch it below and learn more about the young activist here.
