Wendy Davis is running one of the worst political ads of 2014

Latest

Despite attracting national attention, Wendy Davis’ bid to become governor of Texas is almost certain to come up short.

Trailing by double digits in the polls, the Democrat has apparently decided to go down swinging. And she’s doing it in the ugliest way possible.

Her campaign released an ad on Friday going after her Republican opponent, Greg Abbott, who is partially paralyzed. The spot attacks Abbott for collecting damages from an injury that confined him to a wheelchair, but fighting against similar lawsuits when he served as state attorney general and a Texas Supreme Court judge.

“A tree fell on Greg Abbott, he sued and got millions,” the narrator says. “Since then, he’s spent his career working against other victims.”

It’s not as if Davis had a shortage of legitimate material to criticize Abbott. Instead, the ad shows how desperate her campaign has become.
