Some people love surprises. I am not one of them. Neither, it seems, is Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats.
Coats was stuck in front of an entire auditorium of gawkers at the Aspen Institute when NBC’s Andrea Mitchell told him that President Donald Trump had invited Russian President Vladimir Putin for a White House visit in a few months.
He was reduced to asking “say that again?” in the sort of playfully incredulous tone of voice you presumably use when you’re trying to suppress the “what the FUCK?” that’s bubbling up in your throat.
